What are Heat pumps and how do they work?
Air to water heat pumps are essentially water heaters. They can be used to heat your domestic hot water, wet underfloor heating systems and radiators. An air source heat pump (ASHP) works by transferring heat absorbed from the outside air to an indoor space, such as a home or an office via your wet central heating systems to heat radiators, underfloor systems and provide domestic hot water. Heat pumps work similarly to a refrigerator: they absorb heat and transfer it to another medium What are the advantage? The main benefits of an ASHP are:
Underfloor Heating systems To take full advantage of air source heat pump systems you need a good underfloor heating system together with a well insulated property. Most underfloor systems are installed into a screed however we can also retrofit low profile underfloor heating systems up to 15mm in thickness into properties with height restrictions or where screed is not possible. These are compatible with either a tile or wood/laminate floor covering which provides great flexibility and they can be placed directly onto a wood or concrete/block&beam subfloor.
